The midway point of the high school football season arrives tonight with games on all four of our Renda Media stations, two of them on Renda Digital TV.
On WCCS and Renda Digital TV, Homer-Center welcomes Conemaugh Township to Memorial Stadium. The Wildcats won their first game this season but have lost three in a row since. The Indians are 0-4 in their first Heritage Conference season, but they’ve been playing without their flashy quarterback, John Updyke, who could be back tonight. Homer-Center coach Greg Page says he’s prepared his team to play against Updyke, which won’t be easy.
Page says his offense has to get the ground game going.
On Cat Country, 106.3 FM, 3-1 River Valley will host 2-2 West Shamokin and their multiple threat, Lou Swartz. River Valley coach Jess Houser says the Panthers are building steam.
Houser says Swartz is a huge challenge.
West Shamokin coach Jon McCullough is impressed with the River Valley Panthers.
McCullough says River Valley’s key is their punishing ground game, but they can put the ball up, too.
On 92.5 FM U92, the 3-1 Penns Manor Comets travel to 2-2 Cambria Heights. Comets coach Bill Packer expects a typical hard-nosed Highlanders team.
Cambria Heights coach Jarrod Lewis says his Highlanders can’t afford to start slowly against Penns Manor, as they did last week in a loss to River Valley.
The other Heritage Conference games tonight include unbeaten United Valley hosting 1-3 Marion Center at Blacklick Valley. Once-beaten Purchase Line visits winless Conemaugh Valley. 2-2 Portage visits 3-1 Northern Cambria.
On WDAD and Renda Digital TV tonight, 2-2 Indiana is on the road at 3-1 Highlands in a Greater Allegheny Conference game. Both teams are coming off Section losses. Indiana coach Brad Wright is looking for a determined effort tonight.
All of our IRMC High School Football Friday broadcasts begin with the Indiana Total Therapy pregame shows at 6:30, except the Homer-Center/Conemaugh Township game, which airs at 6:15.
