In the big Heritage Conference West showdown match, first-place Marion Center battled down to the wire and topped Homer-Center in five sets. Homer-Center took the first game, 25-20, but Marion Center grabbed the next two, 25-17 and 25-21. The Wildcats won the fourth game, 25-17, but the Stingers rebounded for a 15-13 edge in the clincher.
Meegan Williams led Homer-Center with 13 kills and 10 digs. Alaina Fabin had 12 kills and 7 blocks, and Ashlyn Kerr had 8 kills. Marion Center did not provide stats.
Marion Center is 7-0 in the West. Homer-Center is 5-2.
Northern Cambria beat Portage 3-0 and leads the Heritage Conference East at 6-1. Conemaugh Township topped United 3-0 and is second in the East at 5-2.
