Either two world class defenses were on the field in the Backyard Brawl last night, or two bad offenses were, as West Virginia topped Pitt, 17-6. it was the second straight loss for the 2-1 Panthers while the 2-1 Mountaineers won for the second straight time.
Both offenses totaled 211 yards. Pitt quarterback Phil Jurkovec struggled mightily, completing just 8 pass in 20 attempts with three interceptions. The turnovers led to ten West Virginia points.
Pitt opens ACC play next Saturday night against North Carolina at Acrisure Stadium.
