IUP tries to get back to form tomorrow when the Crimson Hawks play host to winless Shippensburg. IUP lost to East Stroudsburg last week in a wild finish and dropped out of the AFCA Top 25 into the category of “those receiving votes.”
It could be a milestone day for the program and for coach Paul Tortorella. With a win, IUP will become the ninth school in Division Two history with 600 program wins and Tortorella will get victory number 50 of his career. Tortorella says his team overall is in good health.
The coach is looking for improvements in two key areas, one on each side of the ball.
IUP has beaten Shippensburg 23 of the last 25 times they’ve played. It’s the first time the Raiders have visited Miller Stadium since they beat IUP there in 2018.
PITT/PENN STATE FOOTBALL
Pitt visits West Virginia tomorrow night for the 106th Backyard Brawl.
Penn State travels to Illinois for its Big Ten opener tomorrow afternoon.
