Kenny Pickett says he is “itching” to get back at it against the Browns on Monday night after the Steelers’ poor outing against the 49ers in their first game of the season.
After the first day of practice this week, Pickett said his problem on Sunday wasn’t making the right choices, it was making the right throws. Pickett expects the Steelers to rebound against the Browns.
Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that Diontae Johnson will not play Monday night. Johnson has a hamstring injury and will join Cam Heyward on the sidelines. After wearing a walking boot on Monday, guard James Daniels was in full practice gear and said he will play against the Browns.
The Steelers signed offensive lineman Ryan McCollum to the practice squad. He was one of their final cuts of training camp.

Week Two of the NFL season kicks off tonight with the Vikings visiting the Eagles in Philadelphia.
Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers posted to social media that he is “completely heartbroken,” but vowed he’d “rise yet again” and return from the torn Achilles tendon that has ended his season. He’s scheduled for surgery today.
The NFL Players Association is calling for the league to switch all stadium fields to natural grass. The FieldTurf surface at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey may have contributed to the Rodgers injury. NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell says players overwhelmingly prefer natural grass and noted that data shows it’s safer than artificial turf.
