IUP’s 13-12 loss to East Stroudsburg on Saturday was shocking not only in that they lost, but in the way they lost. After failing to punch the ball in from the one-yard line for a game-winning touchdown, the Crimson Hawks were still in position to kick a game-winning chip shot field goal, but they were unaware that they were out of timeouts and the clock expired. It was a lost opportunity for a disappointed coach Paul Tortorella.
Tortorella says IUP has to get back to work, with a lot to play for.
IUP will host Shippensburg on Saturday at 2 PM. Shippensburg lost to Seton Hill, 28-23 on Saturday. Other games in the PSAC this past weekend included Slippery Rock crushing West Chester, 49-24; Cal topping Kutztown, 31-20; Gannon falling to Millersville, 28-21; Shepherd edging Edinboro, 35-28; Bloomsburg beating Clarion, 21-7; and Mercyhurst downing Lock Haven, 41-29.
Coach Tortorella will join Jack Benedict tonight for Hawk Talk, at six o’clock from the CH Fields Craft Kitchen at the Hilton Garden Inn, on Renda Digital TV and 92.5 FM, U92.
