Informal workouts began yesterday at the Penguins practice facility in Cranberry. Sixteen skaters and new backup goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic were on the ice. Among the vets skating were Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell, Jeff Carter, Drew O’Connor, and new forwards Reilly Smith and Lars Eller.
After two seasons in Pittsburgh, forward Danton Heinen has signed a professional tryout contract with the Boston Bruins.
Heinen scored 18 goals in 2021-22 and eight last season. He was the Bruins’ fourth round draft choice in 2014.
