If you’re planning on going to the Altoona Curve vs. Harrisburg Senators game this Thursday to watch Pirates’ No. 1 overall pick Paul Skenes face former LSU teammate Dylan Crews, you’re out of luck.
The Pirates announced Tuesday afternoon that Skenes was placed on the Development List and will not pitch again for the remainder of the season. The team commented on the decision in a statement on social media:

Skenes has pitched a total of six-and-two-thirds innings in five games this season, striking out 10 hitters while walking two. He was initially expected to throw at least 20 innings before season’s end and pitch again for Altoona on Thursday. His replacement has not been announced.
Altoona opens the six-game slate with Harrisburg tonight at PNG Field.
