Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi was ready to start thinking about this week’s game against Cincinnati almost as soon as the 45-7 Saturday win over Wofford was completed. Narduzzi said the Panthers were solid all the way against Wofford.
Quarterback Phil Jurkovec took a series to settle in but then took firm control of the Panthers’ offense, completing 17 of 23 passes for 214 yards and a touchdown in three quarters of play. Narduzzi was impressed with Jurkovec’s composure.
Cincinnati opened its season with a 66-13 romp over Eastern Kentucky.
