Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi announced that a man charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash entered guilty pleas earlier this month in Indiana County Court.
Manzi said in a news release that 29-year-old Elias Jimenez pleaded guilty to felony homicide by vehicle and accidents involving death or serious injury in connection with a crash on January 26th of this year. State Police said Jimenez pulled out of the Homer City Sheetz and drove north on Route 119 in the southbound lane, hitting an oncoming driven by Christopher Sipes of Greensburg. 30-year-old Alex Booher of Jeanette, a passenger in the car, was killed in the collision. Jimenez fled the scene, but troopers were able to track him from the scene of the crash, along the Hoodlebug Trail and to a hotel where he was hiding under a bed.
Manzi called the incident a “senseless crime, where a random innocent victim loses their life due to the actions of the defendant. While he tried to hide from his actions, I applaud the professional manner in which the Pennsylvania State Police diligently tracked him and brought him to justice.”
Jimenez will be sentenced on October 2nd before Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco.
