The Steelers dominated the Falcons last night, 24-0 in their final preseason game. Kenny Pickett was 4-for-4 for 86 yards and led two touchdown drives. Pickett led the Steelers to touchdowns on all five of the drives he participated in during the three preseason games, completing 13 of 15 passes for 199 yards and two touchdowns.
Najee Harris scored on a 1-yard run and Jaylen Warren on an 8-yard run with the first-team offense on the field. Anthony McFarland later scored on a 5-yard run and Chris Boswell kicked a 38-yard field goal.
Two of the Steelers’ defensive line starters, Cam Heyward and Larry Ogunjobi, did not dress for the game. Other starters were limited.
Coach Mike Tomlin says the undefeated preseason didn’t necessarily prove anything or validate that the Steelers are a better team heading into this season than the one that finished last season.
Tomlin says the coaching staff has some work to do before the Steelers open the season September 10th at home against the San Francisco 49ers.
Tomlin said there were no significant injuries again for the Steelers, who have had a relatively healthy training camp.
