For Mike Tomlin and the Steelers, the return to the team’s facility on the South Side after opening training camp at St. Vincent College was a matter of settling in and continuing their work, with a short week of preparation for Thursday night’s final preseason game, at Atlanta.
Tomlin says everybody, coaches and players, needed to bear down.
Tomlin embraces the chance to prepare for a short week now, because the Steelers will have to do it in the regular season, too.
The coach said there were no injuries of particular concern suffered on Saturday night against Buffalo, and those players who are injured are making great progress toward returning.
The Steelers yesterday waived/injured wide receivers Cody White and Hakeem Butler, and they signed outside linebacker Kuony Deng and receiver/return man Aron Cruickshank, both of whom were recently released by the Bears.
