IUP’s field hockey team has been picked sixth in the PSAC preseason coaches’ poll. Defending national champion East Stroudsburg is the top choice, followed by Shippensburg, Kutztown, West Chester, and Millersville.
IUP will look to All-American Jess Davidson, fellow All-PSAC player Roos van Herel, and Cara Betancourt, another top five scorer from last year. All three are sophomores. Graduation left a lot of openings on the roster, so coach Kelly Terwilliger will need contributions from her fourteen newcomers, including ten freshmen. The Crimson Hawks open the season September 1st at Shippensburg against Belmont Abbey, and the next day they’ll play Mount Olive.
