On the opening day of the Little League Baseball World Series, Panama and Japan each collected shutouts in the international matchups. Panama beat Czech Republic, 4-0, while Japan beat Cuba, 1-0.
On the national side, Rhode Island beat Nevada, 3-1, and the team from Media, Pennsylvania, lost to Texas in the nightcap, 2-1.
