Former Steelers head coach Buddy Parker was announced as one of the “Coach/Contributor” finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024 on Wednesday.
Parker ended his career with Pittsburgh, leading the Steelers to four winning seasons between 1957 to 1964. His career accomplishments include leading the Detroit Lions to two NFL Championships (1952 and 1953), ending his career with a total record of 107-76-9 and a 3-1 postseason record, and beating legendary coach Paul Brown five out of six head-to-head matchups.
Parker retired following the 1964 season and passed away in 1982. He will need 80 percent of votes to make it into the Hall of Fame.
The Steelers announced the unveiling of the late Franco Harris’ retired jersey display will take place Saturday prior to the team’s preseason game against Buffalo.
The ceremony will start at 5 p.m. in the FedEx Great Hall. Harris’ wife, Dana, and son, Dok, will be attending the ceremony and serve as honorary team captains that night.
Fans can arrive early to watch the ceremony and celebrate “Family Day” during the game.
Those not making the game can listen to it on WDAD 100.3 FM and AM 1450 starting at 5 o’clock. Due to NFL streaming restrictions, the game will not be available at WDADradio.com.
