After falling to the Mets in the series opener, the Pirates rallied for six runs in the seventh Tuesday night to claim a 7-4 win over New York.

The Pirates go for the series win this afternoon. RHP Johan Oviedo (6-12, 4.42 ERA) starts for Pittsburgh. RHP Tylor Megill (6-6, 5.64 ERA) goes for the Mets. It’s a 12:45 airtime on WCCS.
Manager Derek Shelton said the Pirates rallied after a slow start offensively.
Despite not factoring into the decision, starter Bailey Falter turned in another good outing for the Pirates, tossing five-and-one-thirds innings of one-run ball. He said he had experience pitching at Citi Field as a member of the Phillies, so he was familiar with the ballpark.
First basemen Connor Joe, who went 2-for-3 with a double, said the team cashed in during the seventh.
The Pirates yesterday optioned struggling RHP Quinn Priester to Indianapolis and recalled RHP Yohan Ramirez.
It was a big night in Bradenton for several Pirates draft picks in a 14-13 win over Lakeland. First overall selection Paul Skenes made his Low-A debut and struck out two hitters on 16 pitches. Even topping 100 miles per hour on his first seven pitches. In addition, second round pick Mitch Jebb went 2-for-5 with a double and a triple. His average now sits at .305.
And 13th round pick Charles McAdoo, who was just named Florida State League Player of the Week, went 2-for-5 with another home run and five RBI.

Former NLCS MVP Daniel Murphy announced his retirement on Tuesday. The three-time All-Star played 12 seasons in MLB, helping the Mets to a World Series title in 2015. He also played for the Nationals, Cubs and Rockies.
Rays starter Shane McLanahan will miss the rest of the season after undergoing Tommy John Surgery.
