The River Valley boys’ golf team opened its season with a quad match win yesterday at Chestnut Ridge. The Panthers finished with a score of 209, beating West Shamokin (210), Portage (228) and Northern Cambria (237).
Jake Pynos led River Valley golfers with a 35. Jeremy Reed followed with a 36 and both Holden Fridley and Bryson McDowell each finished with a 45.
Alex Talmadge medaled for West Shamokin, shooting a 33 on the day. Logan Geist added a 41.
Indiana Senior Trevor Todd finished 3rd in the inaugural WPIAL Match Play Invitational on Monday at Wildwood Golf Club. Todd finished the day going 4-1 in five 9-hole matches that included 32 of the best returning golfers in the WPIAL. Two other Indiana golfers also participated in the event. Harrison Martineau and Hunter Martin each went 1-1 on the day. Martineau lost to eventual champion Ethan Dai of Quaker Valley in the second round. Indiana will open section play on Wednesday against Hempfield at 4 PM at Indiana Country Club.
