Former Maple Leafs first-round pick Rodion Amirov passed away Monday at the age of 21 from a brain tumor, his agent Dan Milstein reports. Amirov was the team’s first-round pick in 2020.
Penguins General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas said in a tribute on the team’s Twitter (or X) page quote, “Personally, I am so sad for the loss of such a wonderful young man with so much potential. His unabashed positivity – even when faced with an awful diagnoses – will stay with me forever.”
Dubas was Toronto’s General Manager in 2020.
