While the start of the 2023-24 school year is still weeks away, officials at IUP are getting an early start with new infrastructure geared towards student success.
The infrastructure provides proactive, direct support to students in all programs, at all levels and all sites. It’s also said to augment existing resources, such as the University College, while standardizing and streamlining tools and processes. As part of the infrastructure, 15 full-time IUP staff members called “navigators” will engage with students and their support network. They’ve been on campus since July 17th.
Navigators will also work with faculty, staff, academic advisors, and other campus resources to assist students in both their personal and academic journey, that according to Paula Stossel, IUP’s Strategic Advisor to the President for Student Success.
IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll discussed the early phases of the initiative in a news release, saying he was quote, “very pleased with the response from the IUP community,” and that he anticipates great results in academic and personal success from students. While he’s pleased, Driscoll adds that the initiative requires both change and hard work from every member in the campus community.
The first day of classes at IUP is Monday, August 28th.
