The Penguins avoided an arbitration hearing yesterday by signing Drew O’Connor to a two-year contract with a salary cap hit of $925,000. O’Connor had five goals and six assists last season and averages 9:49 of ice time per game, working with the bottom six forwards.
CapFriendly.com estimates the Penguins are now more than $3.2 million over the salary cap. They have to be at or under the cap by the start of the season.
