Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi says the talent level on his Panthers team is like “night and day” compared to his first Pitt team in 2015, and he is not concerned with the Panthers’ preseason number six ranking in the ACC.
Narduzzi and the Panthers opened training camp with meetings on Tuesday and got on the field yesterday. The coach is eager to get into the flow of training camp, and he says he has a lot to work with.
Narduzzi says he knows there’s a bit of a conflict between sporting a great record and beating quality teams. He’d rather play better teams and give Pitt fans something to cheer about at Acrisure Stadium.
A measure of the under-the-radar nature of this year’s Panthers: they only have one player on the 27-member All-ACC preseason team. That’s senior offensive tackle Matt Goncalves. Clemson has seven players on the All-ACC team and Florida State has four. North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is the ACC Preseason Player of the Year.
