With temperatures in the 90s and humidity driving the heat index to the 100 degree mark, there were some concerns with heat-related illnesses at Steelers Training Camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe.
Diontae Johnson was taken to a tent and eventually carted off the field about a third of the way through the practice session. Coach Mike Tomlin said after practice that Johnson’s departure and the departure of a few others was attributed to the heat. This came one day after he gave the team another health scare as he came down awkwardly after catching a pass along the sideline. He only missed one rep in practice and was able to return afterwards.
In other news, All Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick again sat out team drills. Tomlin said that he was being given a break due to his veteran status. Training camp continues today.
