A Penguins nemesis has retired from the NHL. Boston Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron announced his retirement yesterday after 19 seasons, all of them with Boston. Bergeron scored 427 goals and 1,040 points in 1,294 career games. He won the Selke Trophy as the league’s best defensive forward a record six times, appeared in the Stanley Cup Final three times, and won one Cup, in 2011.
Statmuse.com says Bergeron had 16 goals, 28 assists and a plus/minus of +10 in 59 career games against Pittsburgh.

Chicago Blackhawks team owner Rocky Wirtz passed away unexpectedly yesterday at the age of 70. Team CEO Danny Wirtz is expected to take over ownership.
