A Pittsburgh Football team is playing for a championship, even though they have yet to play in Pittsburgh for a home game.
The Pittsburgh Maulers will take on the Birmingham Stallions for the USFL championship today. Going 5-6 on the season, the Maulers won the North Division Championship against the Michigan Panthers 31-27 last week, while Birmingham beat the New Orleans Breakers 47-22 to win the South Division. The Maulers have not played in Pittsburgh at all in the two years of the rebooted USFL, as all teams played in Brimingham in season one, then moved to different hub locations for season two.
The Maulers played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium for this past season, and that is where today’s championship will be played.
