The Pittsburgh Penguins have extended qualifying offers to five of their prospective free agents. On Friday, the Pens made offers to Jonathan Gruden, Filip Hallander, Drew O’Connor, Ty Smith and Filip Lindberg. The move was made prior to the start of free agency today.
This does mean that Ryan Poehling, Peter DiLiberatore, Colin Swoyer and Josh Maniscalo, who did not receive offers, will become unrestricted free agents today.
