Steelers minicamp ended yesterday and the players departed for the final weeks of their offseason. They will report to St. Vincent College in Latrobe for training camp, and the veterans had a message for their rookie teammates. “Get in the best shape of your life,” was the word from linebacker Alex Highsmith, and fellow linebacker TJ Watt’s advice was, “Get as much sleep as you possibly can and hydrate…” He also said the young players should learn their playbooks.
Coach Mike Tomlin said he was sad that the team’s OTA’s and minicamp were over, and he echoed his veterans’ advice.
Tomlin says his youngest players may have their eyes opened at St. Vincent.
The coach talked about his young offensive unit, and said they are growing up together in the NFL.
