Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said he believed all 90 players on the team’s roster were there for the second day of mandatory minicamp yesterday, including the three players – TJ Watt, Pressley Harvin II, and Ryan McCollum – who had excused absences on Tuesday.
Tomlin enjoys the teaching component of minicamp, which he says often comes through when practicing situational football.
The coach says Kenny Pickett’s maturity after one year in the NFL is helping the quarterback become a team leader.
Kenny Pickett says he has settled into his role after his rookie season and he’s ready for his second year.
Pickett appreciates how hard veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson is working to fit into the Steelers’ system.
The Steelers are limiting the work of some players due to minor injuries, particularly Robinson, who is coming off foot surgery, and fellow wide receivers George Pickens and Miles Boykin.
Defensive lineman Tyson Alualu is unsigned after entering free agency but the former Steelers starter still wants to play, and he tells Sports Illustrated he is hoping it will be back with Pittsburgh. Alualu told SI.com that in a perfect world, he would come back and finish his career with the Steelers. He was injured for most of last season but says he is feeling normal again and preparing as if he will be playing.
