Indiana travels to Mount Aloysius College this afternoon for state Quad-A quarterfinal baseball action against Bellefonte, the District 6 champions. Indiana is coming off a 2-1 win over East Pennsboro in the first round while Bellefonte eliminated Latrobe, 10-9.
The Raiders can hit. They’ve got seven players batting over .300, led by Trevor Johnson, who is hitting .545 with 11 home runs; Alex Ebeling, at .426; and Peyton Vancas, who’s hitting .417. Indiana coach Bill Thompson knows Bellefonte can swing the bat.
Indiana used three pitchers in the win over East Pennsboro, with Gavin Homer throwing 89 pitches over 4-and-two-thirds innings. Thompson says he is comfortable with the number of fresh arms he has ready.
Should Indiana win, they will advance to the state semifinals against the winner of today’s game between WPIAL champ Hopewell and District 10’s champion, Erie Cathedral Prep. The other half of the quarterfinal bracket has Archbishop Wood against Montoursville and Dallas playing Hanover.
