At Washington & Jefferson College yesterday, Cole Fleck’s two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning drove in the winning run as the Montour Spartans downed Indiana, 8-6, in the WPIAL Quad-A Third Place Game. David Gallagher retired the final six batters of the game in two innings of perfect relief.
Indiana’s Gavin Homer had a triple and two RBIs and Steven Budash doubled and had two RBIs. Nick Love doubled and drove in a run.
Indiana falls to 15-9 and enters the PIAA State Tournament as the number four team from the WPIAL. They will play District three champion East Pennsboro on Monday at a site and time yet to be announced.
