HERITAGE CONFERENCE
The Heritage Conference baseball and softball championships are tonight, and they’re both on the radio and on Renda Digital TV.
The baseball title game is at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City, with Northern Cambria taking on Marion Center. The two teams have met once this season, with the Colts prevailing, 5-4. You’ll hear the game at 6:45 on WDAD, 100.3 FM, 1450 AM, streaming at wdadradio.com, and on the TribLive High School Sports Network. You’ll also be able to watch it on Renda Digital TV at any of the four Renda Radio websites, sponsored by Smith Coal & Oil and Five-Star Mitsubishi of Altoona.
The softball title game is at Northern Cambria and features Cambria Heights and West Shamokin. They played once this season, and the Highlanders won it, 9-8. It’s on Cat Country, 106.3 FM and streaming at catcountry1063fm.com and on the TribLive High School Sports Network, also at 6:45 PM. It’s on Renda Digital TV presented by Carson Boyer Funeral Home of Rural Valley and Five-Star Mitsubishi of Altoona.
WPIAL
The WPIAL playoff season arrives with Indiana teams in action tonight. In softball, 15-4 Indiana takes on 7-9 Beaver, the two-time defending Class 4A champs, tonight at 7 at Gateway High School in Monroeville.
In boys lacrosse, Indiana hosts Moon in a first round game.
RUGBY
The injury-plagued Indiana County Warriors Rugby Football Club will not get a chance to defend their state championship after falling yesterday, 31-26, to Hempfield Knightmare, out of Lancaster County. Indiana trailed, 26-14, at halftime but could not come all the way back, although they did have a 12-5 advantage in the second half.
