IUP opens play in the PSAC playoff today with a game against top East seed Millersville. It’s the first postseason since 2017 for the Crimson Hawks, who are in their second season under head coach Steve Kline. Jeremiah Williams (5-4, 2.82 ERA) will get the start today. Millersville, the defending PSAC champions, will have options to pitch today’s game. Carson Kulina is 7-1 with a 2.03 ERA; Ben Wilchacky is 7-2 with a 4.27 ERA. Garet Blankenbiller is 5-0 with a 1.64 ERA and Colby Gromlich is 4-0 with a 2.30 ERA, mostly out of the bullpen.
The game is at 8 o’clock tonight at Jack Critchfield Park in Slippery Rock.
IUP infielder/designated hitter Markus Cestra, infielder Harrison Pontoli, and pitcher Jeremiah Williams have been named to the All-PSAC West first team. Cestra carries a 16-game hitting streak and a .338 average into tonight’s game. Pontoli is hitting .337 and leads IUP in triples (3), home runs (5), and RBIs (40). Williams is 5-4 with a 2.82 ERA, with a team-high 48 strikeouts against only eight walks.
