BASEBALL
In a slugfest, Marion Center outscored the Kiski School, 19-10. Nick Pacconi’s two-run double gave the Stingers the lead as they scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to erase a one-run deficit, then Camden Rising finished up with the last of four innings of relief, closing down the Kiski offense with a scoreless 7th. Parker Black had three hits for Marion Center and drove in three runs. Pacconi had two hits and three RBIs and Noah McCoy drove in three runs.
Northern Cambria scored in every inning to defeat River Valley, 11-2. The Colts’ Josh Yachtis had two hits – a double and a triple – and two RBIs. Ty Dumm also had two hits, and Shaun Gisler struck out thirteen Panthers batters over five innings. For River Valley, Niko Vadala had two hits, including a double.
SOFTBALL
Indiana played a non-Section game against the Heritage Conference East-winning Cambria Heights, clubbing four home runs and downing the Highlanders 12-5. Olivia Zimmerman, Haley Hamilton, Ella Myers, and Julia Antonacci all homered. Hamilton and Chloe McHugh each had three hits, and Zimmerman and Myers each had two. Zimmerman drove in five runs.
Maddie McConnell had four hits and Maria Young, Avery Elkin, and Aleya Talmadge all had three as West Shamokin topped Homer-Center, 17-4. The Wolves scored nine runs in the top of the first, single tallies in the second, third, and fourth, and five in the fifth to put the game away. Young, Talmadge, and McConnell each drove in three.
River Valley fell behind by two runs early but the Panthers scored two in the second inning and three in the third to take the lead for good in a 7-3 win over Northern Cambria. Callie Reaugh had three hits and three RBIs for River Valley. Bailey Dunlap and Sara Bollinger each had two hits. Morgan Hassen and Hayley Dumm each had two hits for the Colts.
West Shamokin and Cambria Heights will be the two teams vying for the Heritage Conference championship on Monday. The Highlanders won their only meeting of the year, 9-8, on March 30th.
