COMMUNITY MEMBERS GATHER IN SUPPORT OF MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS

Members of the public gathered outside the Indiana County Courthouse Thursday afternoon in support of mental health awareness.

Community leaders kicked off festivities by sharing remarks on the Courthouse steps. Among speakers was Indiana Mayor Bill Simmons, who proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month, and Nicole Wannett, certified recovery specialist at the Indiana County Recovery Center, who shared her personal experience with mental health recovery. Wannett said that support for mental health is growing across the county.

County Commissioner Sherene Hess echoed that statement and said mental health resources are a priority.
