Mother Nature had other plans for both the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Altoona Curve. Last night’s games for both teams were washed out due to the rain that came through their respective areas.
For the Pittsburgh Pirates, the game will be made up today as a split-game double header. Game one is scheduled for a 1:05 start, and we’ll have the game for you at 12:40 with the pre-game show on WCCS 101.1 FM and AM 1160. For Game one, the Pirates will stick with their rotation and send Rich Hill to the mound. He is 2-2 on the season with a 4.50 ERA. Patrick Corbin will start for the Nationals. He is 1-3 with a 5.88 record. For the nightcap, which will start at 5:40 PM on WCCS, Vince Velasquez will start. He brings a 3-2 record with a 3.76 ERA. Washington will counter with former Pirate Chad Kuhl, who is 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA.
For the Curve, last night’s game against the Fightin’ Phils will be made up today as part of a back-to-back double-header. Both games will be seven-inning games, and it will start at 5:00 PM. Aaron Shortridge will start for the curve in game one, while Matt Eckelman will start game two.
