IUP GOLF
In blustery weather that promises to continue today, IUP yesterday took the team lead on the first day of the Spadafora Invitational at the Indiana Country Club. At nine-over 293, IUP leads second place Malone by four strokes. David & Elkins is third, seven strokes off the pace, followed by Millersville and Charleston.
Jackson Buccigross led IUP with an even-par 71. He shot three-under over his final six holes and is tied for second overall, three shots behind Malone’s Connor Curry. IUP’s Guillermo Salazar is two-over, and tied for fifth. John Olsen is also in the top ten, tied for 8th at three-over.
IUP TENNIS
IUP’s Karolin Kirchtag is the PSAC West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week after posting a 6-0 record last week. She was 3-0 in both number one singles and number one doubles (with partner Katy Graydon). Kirchtag led IUP to wins last week over Clarion, Cal U, and West Liberty.
The Crimson Hawks will be the number one western seed starting Thursday in the PSAC Championship tournament.
