The Indiana Indians baseball team shut out Laurel Highlands 2-0 yesterday. This marks the fifth straight win for I.H.S. Gavin Homer scored on a pickoff attempt in the first inning that got by the first basement. In the bottom of the sixth, a wild pitch while Garrison Dougherty at the plate allowed Nick Love to score. Indiana racked up six hits and limited Laurel Highlands to four hits. Dougherty allowed two hits and two walks and struck out two in four innings of work to get the win, while Connor Geesey gets the save, allowing two hits and notching one strikeout. Indiana plays Hampton on Monday and Tuesday for a home-and-home series.
Indiana’s Softball team beat Highlands 5-4 in a section game. Haley Hamilton lead off the bottom of the 7th with a double., moved to third base on an advance by a long fly out by Zoe Brandon and scored on the hit by Ella Myers. Ella went 4/4 with 3 RBI’s with a double to drive in the winning run. Tori Manzek and Ella Myers each had a double. Olivia Zimmerman was the winning pitcher with 6 strikeouts and issued 1 walk. Indiana plays at home today against Homer Center.
The Marion Center Softball team defeated Conemaugh Valley 9-0 on Friday. The Stingers compiled 9 hits altogether. Lydia Miller, Mya Lipsie and Cheyenne Silvis each contributed two hits. Abigial Smulik, Brookelynn Hill and Kayla Hill each had a hit and Mya Lipsie hit a two run homer. On the mound Cheyenne Silvis earned the win with 7 strikeouts.
