SOFTBALL
Indiana crushed Woodland Hills, 16-0 in 3 innings to up their record to 7-1. Melia Jarvie, Julia Antonacci, Anna Carnovale and Tori Manzek each had 2 hits, and Antonacci and Maggie Cunningham each doubled. Addie Stossel got the win, striking out 5 with no walks.
Marion Center bested River Valley, 6-1, on the strength of a two-run home run by Alexis Roush and a solo shot by Kayla Hill. Lindsey Mallory had two of the Stingers’ seven hits. Cheyenne Silvis struck out 12 and gave up only two hits and two walks to earn the win.
West Shamokin cruised to a 10-1 win over Penns Manor as Lily Jordan went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, and five RBIs. Avery Elkin and Aleyah Talmadge each had two hits for the Wolves. Leah Mondi threw seven innings, giving up one run on three hits, striking out six and walking one.
Cambria Heights is 5-0 after edging Portage, 8-7. The Highlanders scattered their seven hits among seven players, with Ellie Bender and Abby Zeglen each driving in two runs. The Mustangs Lexi Slanoc and Sydney Castel each had two hits.
BASEBALL
In a battle of two teams each looking for its first win, West Shamokin scored seven runs in the 7th inning to erase a 9-3 deficit and walkoff Penns Manor, 10-9. Ben McConnell was 3-for-3 and drove in two runners. For Penns Manor, Amin Lieb, Justin Vojtek, Carter Smith, Ashton Courvina, and Kayden Detwiler all had two hits. Smith’s two hits were both doubles.
Marion Center came from two runs down with three in the 7th to walkoff River Valley, 10-9. The Stingers had only six hits but took advantage of five Panthers errors. Dakota Bracken and Braden Reichenbach each had two hits for Marion Center. River Valley’s Gavin Burkhart had two hits.
Portage scored two runs in the 7th in another walkoff as they nipped Cambria Heights, 6-5. Luke Scarton had two hits and two RBIs for the Mustangs.
