Intentionally or not, Pitt football coach Pat Narduzzi yesterday revealed that Phil Jurkovec is his starting quarterback, at least to this point of spring drills. Narduzzi told the media that Christian Veilleux and Nate Yarnell are battling for the number two spot. The coach didn’t say Jurkovec was number one, but he did praise the Boston College transfer for his work this spring.
Pitt basketball coach Jeff Capel is losing Nate Santos from his roster. The rarely-used sophomore forward has entered the transfer portal. Capel has roster space available for at least six players, with the transfers of Santos and John Hugley and the graduations of four others who have used up their eligibility.
The Wooden Award winners as college basketball’s top players this season are Purdue’s 7-foot-4 center Zach Edey and Iowa’s star Caitlyn Clark.
