Manager Derek Shelton says the Bucs ran into some good arms in Cincinnati.
Bad news for Pirates right-hander JT Brubaker, who was having a fine preseason before going down with what was originally diagnosed as forearm tightness before his final spring training start. The Bucs moved Brubaker from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list
Shelton says the Pirates are still evaluating Brubaker’s injury.
The Bucs claimed right-handed reliever Edwin Uceta off waivers from Detroit and assigned him to Indianapolis.
The Pirates move on to Boston for an interleague matchup tonight. Johan Oviedo gets his first start of the season against the Red Sox’ Kutter Crawford at Fenway Park. The airtime is 6:45 on WCCS.
