Steelers GM Omar Khan said at the NFL League Meeting yesterday in Phoenix that he is “fired up” for the NFL Draft and the ongoing free agency period, and he is still looking at players from both marketplaces. He said the Steelers “will keep evaluating what’s out there” in free agency and while he loves the idea of having a lot of draft choices, the opportunity to trade up for higher rated talent is there, and “all options are on the table.”
The Steelers have three picks in the first two rounds of the draft…number 17 overall in the first round, then the first pick of the second round, which is number 32 overall, and the 49th overall selection.
Khan says the Steelers had representatives at 30 college Pro Days last week.
NFL owners have approved the proposal that will allow players to wear the number zero. They also voted to mandate Guardian Caps for running backs and fullbacks at every preseason practice as well as every regular season and postseason practice that includes contact. They rejected a proposal to make roughing the passer penalties reviewable.
