BASEBALL
Homer-Center downed Portage, 7-4. Michael Krejocic was 2-for-2 with a double and a triple and scored three runs. Braden Dunn was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Owen Saiani was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Caleb Palmer went five innings for the win, giving up three runs, but only one earned. He struck out eight and walked three. Noah Turk earned a two-inning save.
A big day at the plate for Marion Center, as they pounded out 11 hits and bombed Penns Manor, 17-2. Nick Pacconi had three hits and four RBIs. Alex Stewart had three hits, including two doubles, and he had three RBIs. Noah McCoy had two hits including a double. Marion Center used four pitchers, with Dakota Bracken getting the win in an inning-and-two-thirds on the mound, striking out four and walking one.
River Valley could only manage two hits and fell to Mount Pleasant, 13-0. Niko Vadala and Cole Kennedy-Citeroni both singled for the Panthers.
SOFTBALL
Marion Center bombed Penns Manor, 24-7. Lindsay Mallory was 5-for-5 and Abigail Smulik had a grand slam and a triple. Alexis Roush, Natalie Black, Brookelynn Hill, and Cheyenne Silvis all had doubles. Kaiden Shields had two hits for Penns Manor.
TRACK & FIELD
The United track & field teams swept Bishop Carroll yesterday. The boys won, 113-37, and the girl won, 98-38.
Boys winners on the track included Gage Grassmyer in the 100, 200, and 400, Ty Gapshes in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Ruardon Butler in the 800, Colton Henning at 1600 and 3200, and the 4-by-100, 4-by-400, and 4-by-800 relay teams.
For the girls, United’s winners included Sarah Marshall in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Sara Gornick in the 1600 and 3200, Chloe Stiles in the 400, and the 4-by 100 and 4-by-400 relay teams.
In the field, boys winners included Braxton Jelly in the shot put, Ty Gapshes in the long jump, Logan Lichtenfels in the high jump, and Bridger Blankenbicker in the pole vault.
For the girls, Katlynne Miller won the discus, Emily Mack the shot put, Cassandra Weber the long jump, Sarah Marshall the triple jump, Maya Ressler the high jump and the pole vault.
