Baltimore’s Ryan O’Hearn was 3-for-4 with a home run as the Orioles beat the Pirates, 6-4 on Saturday night in spring training baseball in Bradenton.
O’Hearn’s big night spoiled a good effort by Pirates starter Vince Velasquez, who gave up one run on three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts, pitching into the sixth inning on a night with a strong wind blowing out at LECOM Park. The O’s got to Bucs reliever Wil Crowe in the seventh inning, scoring four runs . They led 6-1 before the Pirates scored three runs in the 8th.
The Pirates visit the Braves in North Port this afternoon, with Rich Hill starting for the Bucs.
