SULAIMAN
IUP sophomore forward Tomiwa Sulaiman has entered the transfer portal after appearing in all 34 games for the Crimson Hawks this season. He averaged 12.6 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game at IUP. Sulaiman earned PSAC All-Star five times on the weekly All-Star list.
FOOTBALL
Coach Paul Tortorella officially kicked off the road to the season opener on August 31st by holding the first spring practice yesterday at Frank Cignetti Field at George P. Miller Stadium. Only five seniors are on the team, but 32 sophomores or redshirt-sophomores are listed on the spring roster. One of the depleted positions is at quarterback. Last year’s starter Mak Sexton will not use his final year of eligibility as he will get started on his career. Freshman Nico Marchitelli is the only rostered quarterback for next season.
GOLF
IUP freshman Alex Swinnerton was named PSAC Men’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday. Swinnerton tied for 14th place at the Hargett Memorial Invitational this weekend, posting a 76, which helped the Crimson Hawks to a seventh-place finish.
The IUP golf team returns to action March 27th at the Trojan Invitational.
