The Penguins entered last night’s game outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture and on a four-game losing streak, but left with a win against the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche and a little bit of history, thanks to captain Sidney Crosby.

Coach Mike Sullivan was pleased with his team’s performance, saying the Pens got help from everyone on the bench.
Captain Sidney Crosby said the Penguins played a balanced game against a tough opponent.
Crosby made history again by reaching the 30-goal mark for the 11th time in his career, tying Hall-of-Famer Mario Lemieux for the most 30-goal seasons in team history.
Jeff Carter scored two goals in the game, breaking a slump he carried during the majority of the season. He said the Penguins need to play their best hockey if they want to make another Postseason run.
There wasn’t much of an update on the Penguins’ injury report. Defenseman Jeff Petry took part in yesterday’s morning skate but missed last night’s game with an upper body injury.
