Jeff Capel and his Pitt Panthers enter tonight’s First Four game with a bit of an edge over having to win one more game just to be in the NCAA tournament field. Pitt takes on Mississippi State tonight in Dayton, Ohio, with the winner making the field of 64 teams and playing a Midwest regional game on Friday against Iowa State.
Capel says while Pitt felt it should have made the tournament outright, the Panthers are happy to prove it on the court tonight.
Capel says he doesn’t focus on a perceived slight of the Panthers, but instead looks at the game tonight as an opportunity.
The game tips off at 9:10 tonight, after the other First Four game between Southeast Missouri State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. We’ll join Pitt basketball immediately after the Homer-Center girls game against Millersburg in the PIAA playoffs.
