Mitch Keller was terrific, with three innings of shutout ball, and the Pirates got a two-run home run by Carlos Santana in the 4th inning and a solo shot by Lolo Sanchez in the 8th to beat the Blue Jays, 7-2, in spring training baseball. Keller gave up three hits, but one of them was a wind-swept popup that fell beside outfielder Jack Suwinski as he tried to find the ball in the sun. Keller struck out three and walked none.
The Pirates play the Orioles today with Vince Velasquez getting the start.
The first round of cuts from Major League camp was yesterday, with the Pirates sending catcher Henry Davis, outfielders Matt Gorski and Lolo Sanchez, first baseman Malcom Nunez, shortstop Liover Peguero, and pitchers Kyle Nicolas and Jared Jones to the Pirate City minor league complex.
