Despite four straight losses, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan believes the team can still win.
It was so bad for the Penguins, they did not even register a shot by a forward until the 5:36 mark of the second period, but in a show of the respect Penguins fans have for coach Mike Sullivan, they fans thunderous chants of “Fire Hextall”, referring to the Pens’ general manager, rained down on the ice.
The Pens and Blues skate in St. Louis tomorrow afternoon at 3:30.
The NHL trade deadline is next Friday. The top team in hockey made a big trade yesterday. The Boston Bruins get defenseman Dmitry Orlov and forward Garnet Hathaway from the Capitals for forward Craig Smith, a first round pick in 2023, a second rounder in 2025 and a third round pick in 2024 to Washington. In addition, the Minnesota Wild get the Bruins’ fifth round pick this year in exchange for retaining 25 percent of Orlov’s remaining salary. The Capitals will pay 50 percent of Orlov’s salary and receive forward Andrei Svetlakov from the Wild.
