Today is the first Friday of the Lenten season and several churches and fire halls across Indiana County are gearing up for the first of many fish fries this year.
One of the area’s popular fish dinners returns at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent. Fried and baked fish dinners are available, but customers also have the chance to purchase steamed salmon, fried shrimp, or pierogi plates. Dinners this year will run each Friday through Good Friday.
Like last year, the Church’s fish dinners will be available through drive-thru only, but the building’s layout makes it convenient for all looking to take part, that according to Norb Rayko.
Dinners will be served from 4-7 p.m. A full-size dinner costs $14 while a half-size meal costs $8.
Also returning this year is the Blairsville Volunteer Fire Department’s take-out Lenten fish dinners, which will also run from 4-7 p.m. Weekly dinner specials are available as well as a “Big Fish” sandwich, starting at $12.
Other fish dinners across Indiana County will be posted here:
- Faith Lutheran Church in Clyde
- St. Bernard School in Indiana
More information on both dinners can be found below. If an organization would like to publicize a fish dinner, message our WCCS Facebook page or email news@wccsradio.com.
