The Pitt Panthers travel to play Virginia Tech tomorrow for another ACC game. Pitt is 12-3 in the conference, tied with Virginia. They are 19-7 overall but still unranked, which is a puzzle not only for Pitt fans but for an increasing number of national media.
Coach Jeff Capel, who has said repeatedly that he is not concerned with the lack of respect his program is getting, does question why the ACC has suddenly lost its national standing.
The ACC was 8-6 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Capel referred to. Pitt obliterated Northwestern in their game, 87-58. Northwestern is 19-7, just like Pitt, and despite losing to the Panthers by 29 points, the Wildcats are two spots ahead of Pitt, in the 27th position, just out of the Top 25.
Pitt/Virginia Tech tips off at 5 o’clock tomorrow in Blacksburg.
