An employee of Scenery Hill Manor is facing charges of harassment in connection with an incident where a resident was abused.
State police say that troopers were dispatched to the healthcare and rehab facility on January 30th to investigate the claim. According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were able to talk with officials and employees at the nursing home and the victim, a 78-year-old Indiana woman. The victim said that the suspect, 26-year-old Gina Beth Gallo of Penn Run, was trying to give the victim a bath. The victim stated that she screams when bathed due to ongoing mental health issues and Gallo put her hand over the victim’s mouth to stop her screaming. The victim had asked Gallo not to do that again.
The screaming continued as the victim was being dried off. An employee told police that Gallo pulled a bath towel over the victim’s face to the point where her mouth and nose were imprinted through the towel’s material and held it there for about three seconds before it was removed.
When police interviewed Gallo, she admitted to both incidents.
Gallo faces charges of summary harassment and misdemeanor abuse of a care-dependent person. A preliminary hearing is set for March 14th.
